Membership Types

VIATeC offers membership in four broad categories: Technology Members, Service Members, Sustaining Patrons and Associates. Options exist within these categories to create the best fit for the members’ needs.

Technology Members

Companies engaged in the advanced technology community by providing or producing a technology service or product on Vancouver Island may join VIATeC as Technology Members. These members develop and manufacture, or produce and commercialize technology products or services.

• Technology Organizations: Greater Victoria entities that develop and manufacture, or produce and commercialize technology products or services may join as a Technology Organization. Membership fees are determined by the number of employees working in Greater Victoria. The fee for an Organizational Technology Membership is $370 per year plus $5 per employee; minimum $375, maximum of $1,050 plus HST.

• Start-up technology companies: Technology Organizations that meet the above criteria but have 3 employees or less may join as a Technology Start-up Member for $290 plus HST. VIATeC believes that by assisting these small companies when they need it the most, we will enjoy a lifetime of support as the company grows.

• Up-Island companies: Technology Organizations that meet the above criteria but are located north of the Malahat may join as an Up Island Technology Member for the reduced rate of $100 due to their limited ability to attend events and make use of VIATeC services.

Service Members

Companies with business interests on Vancouver Island, engaged in the advanced technology community by providing vital services to the technology community on Vancouver Island may join VIATeC as Service Members.

• Service Organizations: Companies with business interests on Vancouver Island, engaged in the advanced technology community by providing vital services to the technology community on Vancouver Island may join as a Service Member. These services include, though are not limited to, accounting, legal, marketing, sales, communications, recruiting, and consultants, as well as educational institutions, government services, agencies, and ministries vital to the technology industry. The fee for Service Company membership is $370 per year plus $5 per employee; minimum $375, maximum of $1,050 plus HST.

Associate Members

Individuals who support VIATeC’s activities but are not associated with a company, may join as Associate Members.

• Associate Individuals: Individuals who do not have a company to promote and want to keep up to speed with what is happening in the technology sector in Greater Victoria may join as Associate Individuals. Individual members will receive event discounts and more, though attendance to certain mixers and access to services will be limited. The ideal category for retirees and job seekers. The fee for Individual membership is $100 per year plus HST.
   
• Associate Student Members: Individuals who are full-time students ata recognized learning institution may join as an Associate Student Member. This category is provided to give proactive students the opportunity to tap into the tech sector in Greater Victoria and familiarize themselves with the opportunities available to them. The fee for Student membership is $20 plus HST.
   

Sustaining Patrons

Companies with business interests on Vancouver Island, who strongly support VIATeC’s activities by providing additional financial contributions and by taking a leadership role in the local technology community, may join as Sustaining Patrons. This membership level also allows companies who are now in positions of leadership to ‘give back’ to the community that supported their climb to success. By providing additional financial support to VIATeC, these members assist us in our mandate to be the definitive technology information source in Greater Victoria, to promote the region to investors and job-seekers, to provide networking and educational opportunities to Victoria tech companies, and to advocate to all levels of government on the tech sector’s behalf. The fee for a Sustaining Patron membership is $2,625 plus HST.
