New Canadian Technology Accelerator Opens in San Francisco

The Trade Commissioner Service of Canada in San Francisco / Palo Alto has just launched its newest Canadian Technology Accelerator in San Francisco.

The new CTA@SF is located inside RocketSpace - a shared workspace for digital media companies that will give select Canadian companies a high tech boost in the growing cluster that exists in San Francisco’s SOMA District. This district is in close proximity to hundreds of digital media companies including Twitter, Zynga, CBS Interactive, CNET, Yelp, Salesforce.com, TechCrunch, Autodesk, MTV Networks, StubHub, Yammer and many others.

CTA@SF is made possible through the generous support of the Province of British Columbia and NRC, in conjunction with the Trade Commissioner Service. It provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for up to eight early-stage Canadian technology companies at a time to spend 12 weeks working out of downtown San Francisco.

This will be Canada's second Bay Area Canadian Technology Accelerator program and is modeled after the highly successful CTA@Plug-and-Play in Sunnyvale, CA.

Canadian companies participating in the program will have access to networking events, mentors, potential customers, partners and investors, interaction with likeminded entrepreneurs and special support from the Consulate's Trade Commissioner Service and partners - including C100 and other locally-based advisors.

Ideal candidates are export ready start-ups as well as small and medium sized enterprises with strong growth potential that wish to create a footprint in the San Francisco Bay area. Office space is fully covered for up to twelve weeks and participating companies are responsible for work permits, living expenses, travel and lodging, etc.
