SendtoNews to Present at Social Media for Government Conference
Victoria, B.C., September 27, 2011 – SendtoNews and the BC RCMP will jointly present at the Social Media for Government conference being held at The Fairmont Empress in Victoria September 26-29th. The conference is designed for federal, provincial, and municipal government managers, particularly in the areas of communications, public affairs, and marketing.
The session titled “How Your Organization Can Use Video Sharing To Enhance Your Public Relations Efforts” discusses the RCMP's use of the SendtoNews platform to proactively, and reactively, connect with newsrooms across the province and around the world. It will also talk about how organizations can enhance public relations efforts with the use of digital media. Case studies involving drug busts, suspect arrests and routine policing will be discussed.
As an experienced communicator, Darren Lagan, Senior Media Relations Officer for the Island District of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will talk about the organization's decision to use SendtoNews, and how it has helped change the way the RCMP is perceived. He'll also discuss how technology has facilitated this transition around the province. From SendtoNews, Leigh Kjekstad will talk about trends in the media industry when it comes to video and how SendtoNews fits into the changing media landscape.
