SendtoNews.com Selected to Cover 2011 Parapan American Games in Mexico
Cloud-based news platform will both acquire and distribute broadcast highlights

Victoria, B.C., Nov 17, 2011 -- Cloud-based news platform SendtoNews.com is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the Canadian Paralympic Committee to cover the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, November 12 - 20.

“SendtoNews has been chosen both to acquire and distribute video, so we will be sending our own videographers to Mexico and creating broadcast highlight packages for SendtoNews.com and making them available to Canadian broadcasters,” said company president Greg Bobolo.

“In addition, Canada’s national television network, the CBC, will post our daily highlight packages on cbcsports.ca. This is a real win for us and marks the first time that the ParaPan American Games will have video clips available on a national broadcaster’s website.”

SendtoNews.com, recently shortlisted for Forbes’ list of “America’s Most Promising Companies,” is a disruptive technology company changing the way the world receives its news. SendtoNews.com harnesses the high-speed file transfer technology used by major newsrooms to a cloud-based service that can used by anyone, anywhere, to upload broadcast-quality video and other multimedia content for free. The content goes straight to SendtoNews.com where it can be securely stored and managed – and previewed and downloaded in broadcast-ready format by an unlimited number of media outlets.

SendtoNews.com replaces the old cost-and time-prohibitive way of distributing international video news through satellite feeds that cost thousands of dollars.

Following its early success powering the state-of-the-art media distribution system used by more than 1,450 reporters at the British Columbia International Media Centre (BCMC) during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, SendtoNews has been quickly adopted for sports journalism. Hockey leagues such as the AHL, ECHL and WHL have been using SendtoNews to distribute away-game highlights back to their home media.

The Canadian Paralympic Committee is only the latest athletic organization to select SendtoNews.com for international event coverage. Rugby Canada, Swimming Canada, Rowing Canada and Triathlon Canada all reported via SendtoNews.com from their respective 2011 world cup and championship events. And just this month, Gymnastics Canada used SendtoNews.com to deliver video from the 2011 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Tokyo.

Sending videographers to Mexico to cover the Parapan American Games expands the company’s role from news distribution to acquisition, but it’s hardly a stretch for a company built on newsroom expertise and staffed by former broadcast journalists.

Company founder Keith Wells, previously a television sports reporter/anchor for more than 20 years, assisted Swimming Canada with video coverage and distribution from the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, China, last July.

Since beginning in Mexico City in 1999, the Parapan American Games has been growing in size and competitiveness. This year’s event will host 1,500 athletes competing in 13 different sports, and will be used by some sports as a direct qualifier for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. The Canadian team includes 124 athletes competing in 11 sports.
