Tom has over 30 years of experience in ocean science and engineering. He has developed a wide range of sensor technologies including sound speed sensors, hydrophone calibration systems, CTDs, flow sensors, hydrocarbon detectors, geothermal heat probes, underwater mass spectrometers, and towed array sensors for commercial, scientific and military applications. Tom’s background includes work with the Canadian Navy and Airforce, as a Research Scientist at AML Oceanographic and presently as the Sensors and Instrumentation technologies BDO at Ocean Networks Canada. Tom is also finishing his PhD in Ocean Acoustics at UVic, developing a new technology to support the latest UNESCO equation of state for seawater.
