David Sovka

Currently a VIATeC board member, David leads the marketing and communication shop at Camosun College, where he is responsible for Camosun's media relations, corporate branding, PR, website, recruitment and social media experiments. David has a MSc. in Wildlife Biology, as well as two undergraduate degrees in zoology and education, none of which prepared him for what he now does but did contribute to a large student loan and several years of poverty. For ten years David and his family lived in New Zealand, where he revamped the online presence of two regional councils, learned a little Maori, managed a print and online publications team, and wrote an internationally-syndicated humour column. He is married and has two teenage children, both of whom no longer think he is cool or relevant. They are completely wrong about that.
