In the last few years, several frameworks have appeared for scaling agile processes, Scrum in particular. One of the most notable is the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) which focuses on groups building a portfolio of products with multiple teams, potentially scattered across time zones. Adopted by 70 of the Fortune 100 and with 160,000 trained practitioners world-wide, it clearly has some proponents. But others have compared it to the Rational Unified Process, which was the late-90s last gasp of heavyweight Waterfall process, and widely considered now to be bloated and overly complex.
