Sidney Breakfast Club - September Meeting
September is finally upon us with seemingly no let-up from the extraordinary summer weather that we've been having. Nonetheless, the SBC is getting back to business with our September 14th meeting with guest speaker Emilie de Rosenroll, CEO, South Island Prosperity Project (SIPP).
Prior to joining the team at SIPP, Emilie gained senior management experience through her role as the Executive Director of the Nova Scotia Association of Regional Development Authorities. She also acted as the lead consultant for the Province of Nova Scotia and the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities. During her career she has worked in a variety of locations across Canada, the USA, France and Mexico.
The Prosperity Project's regional approach to business growth and attraction is currently supported by 29 members, including 10 municipalities, the Songhees First Nation, as well as several businesses, not-for-profits and industry associations.
Our topic September 14th will be: "Growing Prosperity in the South Vancouver Island Region"
In this talk, Emilie will introduce you to the South Island Prosperity Project, an economic development group that was created with an aim to bolster our region's economic and social prosperity by catalyzing the creation of high-quality household-sustaining jobs, so that more families can afford to live, work and build a life here. She will also describe their BusinessConnect program and Mentor Hub, along with information about their upcoming trade mission to China with the City of Victoria as well as the Smart Cities Challenge competition.
