At Rooof, we build the world’s best software for automatically creating classified ads. We’ve been growing rapidly and are now looking for a software tester to join our growing IT team.  You will be responsible for creating, maintaining and running regression test suites, setting up test environments, manually testing fixes/ features and documenting bugs & anomalies.

If you are a naturally inquisitive person with an eye for detail, are comfortable with technology and are an effective communicator we would like to meet you.  As an up-and-coming software tester, you’ll work closely with our development and automation teams to create quality builds based on robust test suites and processes.

What you'd be working on

Rooof has built a large suite of regression tests, your job will be maintaining and growing this suite in response to product releases and updates.  Our test management system (TestRail) works in close conjunction with our issue management system (JIRA); you’ll be creating and updating tickets in JIRA daily.

The engineering teams at Rooof release a lot of code, your job will be to test individual fixes and features as they are developed providing timely feedback and identifying bugs.  You’ll be familiar with the terms “White and Black-box testing” and use them both in achieving these aims. You’ll also be involved in feature project teams where your knowledge of testing will provide valuable insight to the design and requirements phases.

Our products are created using different environments – to be effective in this position you’ll need to be comfortable setting up virtual environments and have familiarity with a variety of different operating systems (Linux, Windows, Mac etc.).

You’ll be working closely with our automation engineer and development teams to make decisions on whether manual or automated testing is the right fit for upcoming features and additionally, provide feedback and recommendations on improving test processes.
 

Skills
We are looking for someone with a real passion for testing, a natural communicator who is willing to learn and is comfortable in a technology-driven environment.  An ideal candidate should tick as many of the following boxes as possible:

• 1+ years of work experience as a software tester
• Inquisitive nature
• Experience setting up virtual environments
• Comfortable with both white and black box testing techniques
• Comfortable around databases and creating SQL queries
• Familiarity with test management software (e.g. TestRail)
• Familiarity with issue management software (e.g. JIRA)
• Motivated self-starter with excellent time management skills
• Team player with strong written and verbal communication
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Degree in a relevant field or comparable experience
   

Nice to have's

• Experience creating or executing Selenium test cases
• Scripting experience (e.g. Python)
   

Responsibilities

• Create, run and maintain regression test suites per release
• Carry out one-off issue and feature testing
• Set up test environments for personal and shared regression, issue and feature testing
• Work with our automation engineer to provide direction on manual vs. automated testing
• Provide expert opinion on testing in group discussions
• Look for opportunities to simplify/improve Rooof software and processes

Compensation

• This position is suited for a junior to intermediate candidate with 1 or more years of practical experience – we pay based on that experience
